Synopsis:

This is the tale of Tina Lake, a quaint town that, behind its peaceful facade, conceals a terrifying secret. Only a group of teenagers, grappling with difficult lives, will unveil what has been hidden for generations.

Mysterious events will escalate from the evening of a solar eclipse, and our young friends will embark on a journey into shadows and their own souls.

Moth Lake is a story-driven experience with extensive text content (over 20k words) and hundreds of unique scenes (over 300 scenarios).

The script takes you on a long journey through mystery, horrors, and the hearts of the characters. It explores dark themes and grim aspects, but also includes many senseless jokes and peculiar conversations, making it challenging to categorize as a strictly horror game.

The main characters navigate a 2.5D world, interacting with numerous hotspots and NPCs. They can pull objects and perform a variety of specific actions to solve diverse puzzles.

The art is modern pixel art, featuring a broad color palette and numerous frame-by-frame animations. There’s a wide array of actions, including talking, walking, running, crouching, crawling, pushing, climbing, sneaking, fist-fighting, throwing… and much more.

Scenes incorporate modern lighting/shading techniques with particle effects and consistent use of parallax to simulate a 3D environment.

There are 6 main characters and over 50 NPCs, each with their unique appearance and personality. You can control 7 characters in the main story and more in additional chapters. They all move their eyes, change expressions, and exhibit peculiar behaviors.

As the story unfolds, players must make choices that influence the characters’ humor and occasionally even the plot.

Characters with good humor always smile, perform amusing and pointless animations, and help each other. On the flip side, characters with bad humor show angry faces, insult their friends, and generally display nervous and selfish tendencies. Overall humor can even unlock hidden scenes, and personally, I would play this game multiple times just to see these small details.

Most of the time, players control a character surrounded by their friends. Each has a unique ability to be used at the right moment, and sometimes their personality is crucial to solving a puzzle.

Some puzzles can be solved by a single character, while others require teamwork from the entire squad.

As mentioned, the game aims to provide psychological horror vibes. So, remember, this game is not for everyone! Some scenes are disturbing, some may give you unease, and others are extremely melancholic.

Characters are constantly forced to confront their difficult pasts and navigate their frightening present. They need to hide, make terrifying decisions, and sometimes even fight for their lives.

…But after everything, your choices can lead you to the best possible ending, and if you fail, you can always try again.
